I had a shamrockin’ good time playing Microgaming’s newest slot release, Lucky Leprechaun. It was positively magical! This Irish-slash-St. Patrick’s Day-themed slot was released March 2015 and I couldn’t wait to play it.

I’ve always loved St. Patrick’s Day, I mean come on, who doesn’t? Corned beef and all the yummy things that go with it – like green beer, it doesn’t get much better than that. St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated the whole world over. And why is that? Because everyone is a little bit Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! I am hard pressed to think of anything I would enjoy more. This slot game might look like your typical five reel twenty line video slot at first glance but don’t let that fool you, this game has serious potential for some legendary pay outs.

The symbols start with your basic 10-through-Ace symbols and go on to include violins, grinning leprechauns with ginger hair, smoking pipes, pints of stout covered with rich foam, the Lucky Leprechaun logo, gold coins embossed with green shamrocks and of course, pots of gold. The graphics and animation on this new slot are unforgettable. Playful and aesthetically pleasing to say the least, I was immediately drawn in by them. Now lets talk about what those symbols can do for you. The Lucky Leprechaun logo is the wild symbol, appears both stacked and by itself in regular and bonus game play and substitutes for all other symbols, except the pot of gold. The pot of gold is the bonus symbol and three bonus symbols will trigger the Trail o’ Fortune Bonus. The maximum amount of coins you can win during the Trail o’ Fortune Bonus is 1,000x your bet, if you are betting the maximum ten coins per pay line that would be 100,000 coins and that’s no blarney! The number of spins you enter the bonus round with are determined by the number of symbols the feature was triggered with.

During this bonus round the screen resembles a board game with a game spinner which determines the numbers of spaces you get to move along the trail. If you land a a space that has a green emerald you will be awarded an extra spin and you may get as many a six spins. If you land on a space next to a rainbow bridge you get to slide over the bridge skipping ahead several spaces, it’s a lot like Chutes and Ladders in that way. At the end of the trail is – you guessed it, a giant pot of gold and that coveted 1,000x multiplier.

The gold coin is the scatter and a single gold coin on the fifth reel will activate the Free Spins feature awarding you five free spins with a 2x multiplier so it is certainly one of the symbols you want to be on the lookout for. During the free spins the leprechauns will also turn wild and additional scatters will award you more free spins and increase the amount of your multiplier up to 5x.
